In January of 2016, Mazevo Coffee began as a humble roasting company in the CEO's garage. Fast-forward to today, and Mazevo Coffee has grown to include four stores across Montana, with a fifth store currently under construction on King Ave in Billings, MT, next to Olive Garden.
We are thrilled to continue serving the Montana community with our high-quality coffee and friendly service. Our customers have come to appreciate our attention to detail and our commitment to providing them with the best coffee experience possible. We work hard to source the highest quality coffee beans from around the world, and our baristas are trained to create the most delicious and satisfying drinks.
At Mazevo Coffee, our mission is to inspire people to Love One Another one cup at a time. We believe that the simple act of sharing a cup of coffee can bring people together and build lasting connections. We strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where people can come together and enjoy great coffee, good conversation, and a sense of community.
But our commitment to making a positive impact doesn't stop there. We also provide micro loans to coffee communities, such as those in Kenya. These loans are a crucial resource for these communities, allowing them to invest in their farms, improve their equipment, and ultimately produce better crops. By supporting these communities, we are not only helping to improve their livelihoods but also ensuring a sustainable future for the coffee industry.
We are proud of our humble beginnings and excited for what the future holds. We believe that our success is not only due to the quality of our coffee and service but also to the relationships we have built with our customers and the communities we serve. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to our mission of spreading love and building connections, one cup at a time.
In conclusion, Mazevo Coffee has come a long way from its origins in a garage, and we are grateful for the support we have received from our community. We look forward to continuing to serve the people of Montana and beyond with our high-quality coffee, friendly service, and commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

]]>Mazevo Coffee Roasters & Espresso Bar will be opening its third location less than two years after getting its start in downtown Billings. Owners Damion and Kiera Taylor and Tyler Nash will open the next Mazevo Coffee in Shiloh Commons, the new mixed-use development currently under construction on Central Avenue along the bustling Shiloh Road corridor. The new Mazevo Coffee location is slated to open in early August.
Damion, Kiera and Tyler started Mazevo Coffee in early 2017 with a goal of offering premium small batch coffee in a community oriented space. They opened a small location on First Avenue North in the heart of downtown Billings. Just six months later, they purchased an existing coffee shop on Grand Avenue and rebranded it to Mazevo Coffee, and also added a stage to be able to host live music and other performances. “Mazevo” is the Greek word for “gather,” a reference to intimate, welcoming feel of the original location and the community atmosphere they aim to create at each location.
“We’re so excited to be joining the new development at Shiloh Commons,” said Damion Taylor, co-owner. “Mazevo’s vision is to create places for the community to gather, and Shiloh Commons is building a community of its own – a place for people to live, work, and gather. It felt like the perfect fit.”
Mazevo will be the only coffee roaster in the Shiloh Commons development, which is currently under construction in Billings’ west end. The new $34 million “lifestyle campus” is expected to include over 60,000 square feet of retail, office and restaurant space, as well as luxury apartments.

KeepCups mission is to encourage the use of reusable cups. We do this by delivering sustainably made products that are fit for purpose in the context of a positive global campaign that strives to make a difference to how we think about convenience culture.
We want to create a global brand and to be one of the organizations that kick started the demise of the disposable.
Through the widespread sales of KeepCup we want cafes to lift reuse rates to 40% reusables in the “to go” environment. Implicit in this objective is the knowledge that brand in hand is the most effective way to drive reuse behavior.
"The KeepCup has been a labour of love so we are just thrilled that people have adopted and used the KeepCup and spread the word right around the world. Well done everyone!"
My brother and I started a café business called Bluebag in Melbourne in 1998. As the business grew we became increasingly concerned about the volume of packaging waste our business and our customers consumed.
We looked to purchase and sell reusable cups as an alternative to disposable, but observed that not only were existing options unsuitable for specialty coffee, they hadn’t won the hearts of consumers.
Ceramic mugs were heavy, breakable, needing to be heated prior to filling and impossible to dose correctly with milk and coffee. Thermoses were bulky, unattractive and invariably the coffee shot had to be poured into the thermos destroying the crema on the shot. Further to this, both options were made of composite materials, making them dishwasher unfriendly and difficult to recycle at the end of life.
We had the notion to make our own, but were daunted by the enormous costs of set up and manufacture. My moment of clarity was when I was heating the milk in my daughter’s sippy cup one morning. Imagine if I gave her milk in a disposable cup and then discarded it? That idea seemed so wasteful, yet I did it with coffee twice a day! This moment was the call to action.
We took a huge gamble that usability and aesthetics were the key reasons for poor take up of reusables as an alternative to disposable cups. Our café experience was invaluable in providing input to make the KeepCup work behind the coffee machine as well as for the user.
Almost four years later, with a great deal of help from design professionals, we have kick started a behavioral change in Melbourne that is spreading across the world. People purchase KeepCups because they love the way they look and feel, and continue doing so because they form a positive habit. For many of our customers it has been the beginning of a journey to reduce the consequences of convenience behavior. Feel good. Do good.
KeepCup is from Australia with love. The environmental footprint of our products is really important to us, so we were committed to local manufacture. Sustainability is linked to usability, and we believe; quality and underpins the ethos of the business. As the business expanded globally we were hesitant to proclaim our Australian manufacture but it turns out this is a really positive message, and made in Melbourne even more so, given our city’s reputation for specialty coffee.
In 2012 we opened a warehouse in the UK and in March 2013 we opened in Los Angeles. Local presence means that we can begin to tell a local story in these markets, local assembly and local printing of packaging and point of sale materials, reducing the environmental footprint of the KeepCups.
KeepCup is also less plastic. Disposable cups are lined with polyethylene and have a polystyrene lid, so there is enough plastic in 28 disposable cups to make one small KeepCup. In 2009, Simon Lockrey from the Centre for Design at RMIT completed a Symapro Life Cycle Analysis which has independently verified our sustainability claims. Research conducted by Canadian chemist, Dr Martin Hocking who found the break-even energy requirement to manufacture a reusable plastic cup versus a paper cup over a lifetime use was under 15 uses.
Since June 2009 we have sold over three million KeepCups, users have diverted billions of disposable cups from landfill.
KeepCups are now sold in 65 countries around the world.
We think of ourselves as a campaign supported by a product, where the best reusable is the one you use.
Ours just happens to be pretty awesome.
Many small acts will make a phenomenal difference.

A popular Billings West End coffee shop is under new ownership and a new brand, Mazevo Coffee.
Mazevo’s owners, Damion Taylor and Tyler Nash, bought the former Off The Leaf shop at 819 Grand Ave. and converted the brand at the beginning of this month. The previous owners had recently changed the name to Beyond the Cup.
Taylor and Nash added a small stage and are planning more events, but expect few changes for a place that’s running well, the two said.
“We want to keep the vibe,” Taylor said.
Brian and DeAnn Carpenter opened the coffee shop in 2008 with the goal of creating a hang out with a mindset of helping the community. About two years ago, Greg Switzer and Ethan Kanning took over management of the company.
The sales price to Mazevo was not disclosed.
Taylor and Nash opened the first Mazevo in January at 2719 First Ave. N. It’s in a small retail space, but with room to roast the beans through a separate business, Live His Love.
“Mazevo” is a Greek word that means gather. It’s a philosophy that Taylor and Nash instilled at their original location, and they feel it’s already there at the West End spot.
All of the roughly 10 employees are staying in place, and the shop will continue to serve pastries and other baked goods.
“Same baristas. Same friendly faces,” Nash said.
Customers can order online at www.mazevocoffee.com. Call 894-2734 for more information.
Have you heard of affogato? It’s a magical combination of ice cream and espresso found at a few locally-owned coffee shops here in Billings.
I learned about this delicious treat recently while talking with Damion Taylor, one of the owners of Mazevo, a new coffee shop located across from the Northern Hotel in downtown Billings.
Affogato is one of the more unique offerings at Mazevo – at least in my opinion – and one I couldn’t wait to try. Mazevo’s affogato is made with vanilla ice cream, two shots of espresso sourced from Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea, and Brazil, and a topping of whipped cream and drizzled caramel. YUM! It’s served in a small glass, which you can eat with a spoon or sip once it’s melted a bit.
It sounds delicious, right? Here’s a bonus – I couldn’t believe how affordable it was, too. My treat was just $3.
I’m considering this the espresso you didn’t know you need to try. It’s sweet but it’s not super sweet, which I can appreciate.
If you’re not a fan of spoons, you can order this treat in milkshake form at Mazevo. It’s called the Espresso Milkshake and it features the same ingredients as the affogato but blended.
Another fun offering at Mazevo is the Undertow. It’s made with flavoring, half and half and layers of espresso. It makes this really pretty layered effect in the shot glass.
Mazevo is open from 6 am to 9 pm Monday through Thursday and Damion plans to stay open until 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights to catch the nightlife crowd.
With in-house coffee roasting and baked goods, Mazevo is a wonderful spot to stop in for a cup of coffee and a treat, or grab one to-go on your way through downtown Billings.
Mazevo Coffee Roasters and Espresso Bar is downtown Billings’ newest place to hang out and sate your caffeine crave.
Owners Damion Taylor and Tyler Nash opened Mazevo in early January at 2719 First Ave. N., the former site of a cupcake shop, and they’re hoping to stand out in a growing downtown market.
“We wanted to have a place where people can gather, have a community,” Taylor, 22, said.
That’s the thinking behind the name “Mazevo,” a Greek word that means gather. The 250-square-foot space is tight but welcoming, with chairs at the window and a table with a hand-carved chess set.
In back is the roasting business, Live His Love, which has a Christian philosophy and donates profits to humanitarian causes.
Taylor said he’s selling Live His Love coffee at the shop, but Mazevo is a separate business.
Mazevo serves the traditional caffeinated drinks — espresso, lattes, machiatos — with a couple twists. An affagato, for example, is an ice cream espresso and is popular with customers, Taylor said.
Mazevo joins a growing group of coffee shops downtown, including Rock Creek Roasters, Moav Coffee, Ebon Coffee Collective, Coffee Tavern and Starbucks.
Because of the competition, Taylor said the pair had originally looked on the West End. However, the downtown spot turned out to be ideal, a cozy, affordable space across the street from the Northern Hotel.
“People coming from the hotel, this place reminds them of the city,” said Taylor, who lived in Hawaii and New York City after graduating high school.
Taylor and Nash grew up together in Glendive.
“We’ve been friends for a long time, doing business ventures and projects together,” Nash, 23, said.
The two spent about $50,000 to launch the business, financed mostly from their parents.
Mazevo is open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The phone number is 534-6625.

Mazevo, pronounced muh-ZAY-vo, means “gather” in Greek, and that’s just what owner Damion Taylor wants his patrons to do. Mazevo is open from 6 am to 9 pm Monday through Thursday and Damion plans to stay open until 3 am on Friday and Saturday nights to catch the nightlife crowd. He’s also featuring local artists’ work in the space and will take part in the next ArtWalk Downtown Billings.
The location features a table for two, a couple of comfy leather chairs and two bars with seating. It’s cozy and inviting, two things that made this patron want to hang around for a while.
Which brings me to the coffee — Mazevo offers the traditional lattes, mochas, and espressos, but also a few unique things, including affogato, a bowl of ice cream with espresso (YUM!) and even an espresso milkshake. There are several blended offerings (vanilla bean and salted caramel caught my eye), along with filtered coffee, and my favorite-named portion of the menu – “Not Coffee.” Damion says their coffee is single-origin, meaning the beans come from the same farm and/or the same region of the world. For instance, his espresso is Ethiopian.
Mazevo’s coffee is air roasted in-house and is pretty well-known around Billings. The coffee is created under the name LiveHisLove and is used in several coffee houses in churches in Billings, including Faith Chapel. Damion says that business is a ministry to help several causes like My Fight, which seeks to fight extreme poverty. LiveHisLove coffee can now be purchased at Mazevo.
Another fun offering is Mazevo’s baked goods. They’re made in-house (except for the bagels) and include breakfast sandwiches (one of which is on a honey wheat English muffin) and their cinnamon and caramel rolls.
With in-house coffee roasting and baked goods, Mazevo is a wonderful spot to stop in for a cup of coffee and a treat, or grab one to-go on your way through downtown Billings.

If you are looking for a small and intimate place to grab a cup of coffee then Mazevo is your place! The small space is located on 1st Ave N in downtown Billings and only just a block from the station (which is perfect for me to slip out to grab a quick cup)!
Owner Damion Taylor opened Mazevo just a week ago. The shop offers all of the coffee choices that you love along with delicious goodies to pair with your cup of Joe! And the space and atmosphere are like something you would find in a big city tucked away in an alley (I love that). Plus, that big city feel is reflected in their operating hours. Mazevo is open Monday – Thursday from 6am to 9pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 6am to 3am!! Trying to catch that late night crew who needs that coffee!
Check ’em out!
